Event Goal:
This invasive species roundup and tournament is a chance for us to practice caring for our precious marine resources by doing our part in the campaign to control invasive fish on our reefs. The overall goal is to remove as many Roi possible from Hawaiian waters in the time allotted. Additionally, all funds raised will go directly to UVSC’s mission of supporting families fighting cancer with their cancer-related medical costs and essential needs.

This event honors and celebrates Trucker Boy’s “big, little life” as his mom, Shauna, describes it. Trucker Dukes was UVSCʻs first Hero and beneficiary of our Financial Assistance Program, who continues to inspire us to support and uplift families in our community that are facing cancer.

Tournament Divisions: (* ALL minors must be accompanied by an adult)

— 15-18 years old* (must have been enrolled in high school in 2024-2025 school year)
— *New* OPEN DIVISION: Photo Contest – Largest Roi (by weight) – submissions welcomed from all ages and Hawaiian islands; $100 Cash Prize + swag!

EVENT SCHEDULE: SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025:

  • 6:30am- 7:30am: Diver Check-In opens, all teams must be pre-registered. Both divers on team must be present to be eligible to compete. **All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 7:30am-8:30am: Mandatory Dive Safety Workshop and Tournament Briefing, generously provided by our friends, Justin Lee and Freedive Safe! Hawaii
  • 8:45am: Tournament BEGINS! Safety checks must be completed in order to enter the water.
  • 9:00am: SILENT AUCTION opens with great items and gift certificates to Mauiʻs best restaurants and shops. Bidding also will be available that day via UVSCʻs Instagram.
  • 10:00am: Fun and educational land-based activities provided by community organizations and sponsors for keiki, spectators and attendees.
  • 11:45am – All teams must RETURN for Weigh-In. Both divers must be present at weigh-station or will be disqualified from prizes.
  • 12:00pm:Lunch is served.
  • 12:30pm-1:00pm: Awards Ceremony
  • 1:00pm: Silent Auction closes; Mahalo and A Hui Hou!

Spectators, family members and friends are invited to join us too! Lunch will be available for purchase for non-competitors.

RULES

  1. Each team will be comprised of TWO(2) DIVERS ONLY. No exceptions. Minors must partner with an adult that is 18 years of age or older and have permission from a parent/guardian.
  2. Both participants must be present and checked-in no later than 7:30am. Liability forms must be completed.
  3. Diving will commence at 8:45am AFTER the morning check-in, presentation and safety briefing at Rinzai Zen Mission located at Baldwin Beach.
  4. All teams must return and check in with their fish as a TEAM at Rinzai Zen Mission located at Baldwin Beach check in table NO LATER THAN 11:45am for your team to qualify for tournament prizes.
  5. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT:
    1.  Only ONE dive float with dive flag per team allowed.
    2.  At least ONE dive knife per diver.
  6. Both divers must stay within a 50 foot radius of the team dive float at all times.
  7. No belt kuis (stringers, poke eye, etc.) allowed. All kuis must remain attached to float while diving.
  8. No dive lights, kayaks, rideable floats or boats allowed. Body board floats with flag ok for use as a buoy only.
  9. Dive Boundaries: Boundaries will be specified during safety briefing.
  10. You must be present at weigh in no later than 11:45am for your fish to count. If not, you will be disqualified.
  11. All teams must be present and checked-in at the Dive Tournament no later than 7:30am at Rinzai Zen Mission located at Baldwin Beach. BOTH TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE PRESENT. IF BOTH TEAM MEMBERS ARE NOT PRESENT, YOUR TEAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. NO REFUNDS.

NO REFUND POLICY

  1. Overview: This no refund policy applies to all participants of the 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup organized by UVSC. By registering for the tournament, participants agree to comply with this policy.
  2. Non-Refundable Registration Fees: All registration fees for the 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup are non-refundable.
  1. Non-Transferable Registration: Registration for the 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup is non-transferable. Participants cannot transfer their registration to another person or apply their registration fee to future tournaments.
  2. No Refunds for Cancellations: Participants who cancel their registration for any reason will not receive a refund. This policy applies regardless of the reason for cancellation, including but not limited to personal circumstances, medical conditions, or travel issues.
  3. Event Cancellation or Postponement: In the unlikely event that the 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup is cancelled or postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of UVSC, no refunds will be issued. Participants will be offered the option to apply their registration fee to a rescheduled date or a future event organized by UVSC.
  4. Weather and Safety: The 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup will proceed as scheduled, regardless of weather conditions, unless it is deemed unsafe by the organizers. In such cases, no refunds will be issued. Safety is our top priority, and the decision to cancel or postpone the event will be made with the participants’ well-being in mind.
  5. Agreement to Terms: By registering for the 3rd Annual Trucker Dukes Memorial Dive Invasive Roundup, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this no refund policy. Participants also acknowledge that this policy is binding and non-negotiable.

  4. MANDATORY EQUIPMENT: A) Only ONE dive float with dive flag per team allowed. B) At least ONE dive knife per diver.
