Our Mission
UVSC’s mission is to provide hope by raising funds for individuals fighting cancer, as well as supporting cutting-edge research for a cure. We bring together a community of unique individuals who want to help in the fight – by sharing their ideas, money, skills, and time.
UVSC is a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit.
US VERSUS CANCER
Why did we start UVSC? At UVSC, each of our founders learned the ruthlessness of cancer first-hand. We also understand what you need to fight it effectively – money and community support. We started UVSC to ensure more cancer fighters get the support they need to fight and live on.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT HELPS
Each cancer fighter’s needs are different. We aim to meet the needs of the individual fighting cancer and their family by supporting their direct out-of-pocket cancer related expenses, such medical co-pays, alternative/experimental therapies, travel for treatment (flights, ground transportation, lodging), medical devices and other supplies to improve the home/healing environment. Cancer treatment options are very limited in Hawaii and especially on the neighbor islands, which means many cancer fighters must seek treatment out of state.
In addition, household bills pile up quickly when patients and/or their caregivers are unable to work. UVSC helps to ensure a family experiencing cancer is able to meet their most essential needs, such as stable housing, food, utilities and transportation, so they can focus on healing and living on.
We work to ensure cancer fighters are connected to current information on cutting-edge clinical trials, as well as other community-based organizations with expertise and ability to support their varying physical, emotional and economic needs.
Any remaining portion of your donation goes towards cutting-edge research to find a cure and helps to support UVSC’s small, but mighty staff who administer our programs and services for cancer fighters.
